Hace un par de semanas fui a visitar a los padres de un amigo. Estaba lloviendo y cogí el paraguas, el que me regalaron por domiciliar la nómina del trabajo - que todavía no tengo - en el banco. A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit to a friend´s parents. It was raining I took the umbrella, the which one the bank gave me when I opened my bank account to put the wage of the work I am still looking for.

Lo más oportuno me pareció dejarle esperando en el porche, ni siquiera le invité a pasar, a esperar dentro o en el paragüero. Como había dejado de llover; para que se secara más rápido, se me ocurrió ponerle boca abajo y hacerle girar como si de una peonza se tratase, como cuando centrifuga el tambor de nuestra lavadora, la Westing House que heredamos de mi bisabuela. Pasé un buen rato hablando con ellos. Al salir, me acerqué hasta la casa de otra amiga  para hablar sobre un proyecto en el que andábamos metidos. We spend a great time talking together. When I was leaving I went all straight to another friend´s house to talk about a common project.

Se me había olvidado el paraguas o lo había dejado allí. El caso es que había venido sin él. No tuve tiempo de echarlo en falta, sencillamente, porque cuando salí de la casa de Ufe, había dejado de llover. Ricardo, el padre de Ricardo, otro de mis amigos, se acercó a devolvérmelo. El reencuentro fue muy emotivo. Me alegré muchísimo por haberlo recuperado. I had forgotten my umbrella or I had leaved it there. The point is that I had not taken it with me. I had not had time to miss it, easily, because when I left Ufe´s home, it was not raining. Ricardo, Ricardo´s father, another friend of mine, came to the house to give me back the lost object. The meeting was very emotive, I felt very lucky for having recovered it.

Gracias a este hecho casual, tal vez ahora pudiera entender por qué aquel alguien había dejado olvidado su paraguas, aparentemente tan sol@... ahora tendría la oportunidad de acercarme a sus motivos;  desde mis propios motivos, el despiste y el desapego; el no echar de menos. Thanks of this incidental fact, by chance, perhaps I could understand better why that “someone” had left forgotten his umbrella, apparently so lonely, so alone… may be now I would have the opportunity to get to know his reasons, from my own motives, the indifference, the coolness; the not missing.
