De vuelta a la cotidianidad del barrio, al pasar por
la Plaza de la Cantarera, pienso en
lo amable y afortunado del gesto del artista… Going back to the
daily neighboring-life, while I am crossing the Plaza de la Cantarera (an small traditional square of the city), I
am thinking how genial were the artist movements sculpting its volume…
Sí, definitivamente ponerle
un paraguas a aquella estatua no fue ninguna
gamberrada; ninguna chiquillada, sino más bien todo lo contrario, todo un
acto de generosidad y caballerosidad por
parte del artista – desinteresado o no -. Un gesto gallardo, galante, que, en
mi modesta opinión, dice mucho de las intenciones (buenas) de su autor. Puede
que sólo quisiera evitar que aquella Venus
de alabastro se costipara; evitar
que cogiera una buena trucha… Yes, for sure, leaving the umbrella there, besides that
statue was not a foolish thing, no a madness gesture, no a kid´s play, but on
the opposite, a generous detail coming from the artist, - interestingly or no-.
En el patio, los vecinos
comentan la anécdota del fin de semana. La
señora Mari; la del quinto, una
de las primeras en llegar a vivir al bloque, murmura que no por casualidad el
escultor se inspiró en la mujer del frutero, la expresión de su rostro resulta
de lo más elocuente… ¿Sabes que…? La gente dice que… Pues eso; que vaya… On the court, neighbors talk about what had happened last
weekend. Miss Mari, who lives in the top floor, one of the
first ones to arrive to the block, is whispering to the hears willing to listen
to her, that the sculptor was inspired by the beautifulness of the fruit
seller´s woman, the expression of his face while murmuring was so eloquent … Do
you know what…? People says that… Yes, do you imagine? What a …
Por cierto; hablando de todo
un poco, no sé qué hecho con el mío… So, talking about everything and
nothing, I don´t know what I have done with mine (my umbrella)…
¿Dónde diantres lo habré
dejado? Where on earth did I leave it?
Creo que voy a necesitar un
paraguas nuevo. Me voy de tiendas. No resulta fácil encontrar paraguas en los
escaparates de una ciudad en la que apenas llueve, vender paraguas no es un
negocio rentable en estas latitudes. I am thinking I am going to need a
new one. I am going to hit the shops. I am really conscious it must not be so
easy to find an umbrella on the street window shops of this city where It is not
usual to see the rain to fall, I understand that selling umbrellas it is not the
best business around here.

Por fin doy con una; ahí
está, todo un ramo de paraguas esperándome… Tendré que elegir uno, pero… ¿cuál?
At the end, after hours, I find one; it is right there, there is a whole
bouquet of umbrellas expecting for me… I should choose one, but… which one?
Estoy convencido de que si él
me eligiera a mí, este paso, sería más sencillo… I do believe that
if the umbrella would choose me instead of me would choose it, this step might
be easier to take…
